Friday, July 9th - Summer is in full swing here! Spent some time at the water park with my adorable
nieces and had an absolute blast! The guy and I are in the process of building a patio cover, something two not-at-all-mechanically-inclined
people should have never attempted. It's taken us ten times as long and three times as much $ as it would've taken
to hire someone to do it, but, hey, I'm never one to shrink from a challenge. On the writing front, I sold a short
story to True Love magazine recently. Yay! I'm also looking forward to a writing retreat soon with my
writing buddies Trinity Blake (check out her release "Time Pirate" from Red Sage - it's sexy, fun, and intriguing!), Hadley
Holt (www.hadleyholt.com) and Angela H. Always fun, especially since we bring coolers full of butterscotch shnapp's and limoncello.
Sunday, May 16th - Attended the Yellow
Rose RWA chapter's luncheon yesterday and it was great! Author Christie Craig gave us lots of good info
on character motivation, and NYT Bestselling author Rachel Caine taught us about the YA market. Good stuff! Also
got to spend some time with my writing buddies, which is always fun! I have little on my to-do list today, which means
I get to spend the day plugging away on my latest WIP. Yay!
Wednesday, April 21st - This news just in: I found out that my manuscript "Bitches on
the Beat" is a finalist in the Wisconsin RWA's Fab 5 contest! Woo hoo! They love me! They really love
me!
Also pulled all of the weeds out of my flowerbeds and planted a bunch of beautiful, colorful flowers. Got my
fingers crossed that the darn dog won't dig them up . . . Lucky for her, she looks cute with muddy paws and a petunia
hanging out of her mouth. Looking forward to the Dallas Area Romance Authors meeting this Saturday when the guest speaker
will be one of my fellow 2009 Golden Heart finalists, Addison Fox.
Saturday, April 3rd - Recently attended the North Texas RWA's conference featuring Michael Hague.
Learned a lot and he made it all seem very simple. Romantic suspense author Colleen Thompson also spoke at
our Dallas Area Romance Authors meeting on "How to Finish the Damn Book" and it was great! She's a witty,
honest speaker and gave us lots of wonderful tips! My tulips are in full bloom, just in time for Easter.
Now if I could only get Reggie to stop digging them up! Grr! If she weren't so cute I wouldn't let her get away
with it. But it's hard to resist such an adorable, floppy puppy. Hope the Easter Bunny brings all of you
a big basket of treats tomorrow!
